Living in Springs a relative bargain (Wednesday, 9/07/2005, Courtesy of The Gazette).  The cost of living in Colorado Springs when compared with the rest of the nation fell again in the second quarter a survey showed Tuesday.  The living-cost comparison, compiled by ACCRA, a Virginia-based group that surveys prices from milk to electricity in about 300 cities, was 5.8 percent below the national average during the April-June period.  In the previous report, living costs, which include groceries, housing, utilities, transportation and health care, were 4.3 percent below the national average from January to March.

Glowing forcast for region (Wednesday, 11/09/2005, Courtesy of The Gazette).  The economic recovery that began last year in Colorado Springs is here to stay and will grow stronger next year, a Salt Lake City-based economist said Tuesday.  Local employers should add up to 7,000 jobs to their payrolls next year because of troops relocating to Fort Carson and gains in the technology and telecommunications industries, said Jeff Thredgold, economic consultant to Vectra Bank Colorado.

Colorado rates 4th in economics (Friday, 12/20/2005, Courtesy of The Gazette).  Strength in technology and business incubation continue to move Colorado higher among the national leaders for economic competitiveness, according to a report released today by Suffolk University's Beacon Hill Institute.  The fifth annual report shows Colorado advancing one spot from a year ago to No. 4 - trailing only Massachussetts, New Hampshire, and Utah - based on strengths across a broad range of economic indicators. Although Colorado has been in the top 10 every year but one, this is the highest the state has ever climbed.
